Fasching Saturday February 23, 2019 6PM til ???
The Holidays are behind us. Oktoberfest is a distant memory. We need to Party. FASCHING is right around the corner!! Gott sei Dank!
Fasching - which is sometimes called Karneval - is a time of festivity and merry making. Think "German Mardi Gras". It's a tradition that can be traced to medieval times when common folk lived under the firm - and often harsh - hand of a feudal Lord or King.
Fasching was a time to break the rules and poke fun at those who make them. Political authorities and the high and mighty - including sovereigns - were subject to ridicule and mocked in humorous and satirical speeches. Parades, dancing in the streets, masquerade balls and comical skits filled the days and nights.
German authorities of the time were not known for their sense of humor - so to avoid persecution and punishment, these antics were played out from behind masks and costumes.
Did someone say celebration, carousing, music, dancing and masquerading?? Sounds right up our alley.
There will be a costume contest with prizes, plus entertainment by GACS favorites, the Bavarian Brothers and their famous musical skis.
Of course we'll have all the great German beer you've come to expect plus our featured dinner - Jaegerschntizel - served from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
There's a $10 cover charge. Doors open at 6 pm.
