About Fasching

Fasching is the Roman Catholic Shrovetide carnival celebrated in German-speaking countries. There are many regional differences concerning the name, duration, and activities of the carnival. It is known as Fasching in Bavaria and Austria, Fosnat in Franconia, Fasnet in Swabia, Fastnacht in the Mainz area, and Karneval in Cologne and the Rhineland.

At the GACSRI, we celebrate Fasching each spring with Karnival-style festivities that include costumes, live music, food, drink, and merriment!

Event Details

Join us on Saturday, February 25th for our annual Fasching celebration! This will be a completely pre-ticketed event and tickets will only be sold online. Limited tickets will be sold and due to expected demand we recommend guests purchase early to avoid missing out, as the event has sold out in years past.

Live music will be provided by one of the GACSRI's favorites: the Bavarian Brothers Band! Doors open at 6pm and the Bavarian Brothers take the stage at 7pm.

There will be a cash/credit bar available with a special Lenten season German beer on tap (full draft list coming soon). The Ratskeller kitchen will also be open serving Bierocks for $5 each and a chicken & sausage Jambalaya for $8 per bowl. Our friends from Burgundian Waffles will also be on hand offering their famous Liège waffle dishes.

A costume contest will also be held with prizes for the winners, so we recommend everyone dress up!
